Waffles

It's pretty obvious I love waffles. They are so much better than pancakes to me, pancakes are too soft. I love how waffles are pretty much crispy everywhere. Maybe it's the fact that I completely drown them in maple syrup. Maple syrup straight from the freezer, keep it ice cold! It is great over a steaming waffle.

FILM

I got two rolls of film developed today and here are some of my favorites. ENJOY
The photo clerk said, gosh your photos just made me really hungry. :)

Brown Sugar Cookies

A cross between Snickerdoodle cookies and Sugar Cookies. The thicker you roll them out, the softer they are, so make some thick cookies! Valentines day is coming soon, so I fully welcome the start of heart shaped baking.
I finally made a background that wanted a tablecloth leaned up against a flour canister.
My dad helped to make a background from 3 pieces of wood, hinged together. So it has two sides and a bottom, then I painted it white. Not to hard to make and all was purchased from Home Depot.

Baked Veggie Fries

These are really good when you let them crisp up until you think they are almost over done. It makes them taste more like fries when you let them get this crispy. Perfect for an easy dinner or afternoon snack.

Orange Curd

Inspired by the blueberry lemon curd tart, I decided to try to make orange curd. When you taste the lemon curd and then the orange curd, it is surprising that they are almost the same recipe. The lemon curd has such a tang to it, while the orange curd tastes so creamy. It reminds me of an orange creamsicle. So good on a piece of toast, ice cream or straight out of the jar. I found the outline for the label here

Pulse Magazine

Online magazine, Pulse, based in London contacted me about an interview, as part of their Clickr artist of the week. They find the photographers they choose through Flickr.
HERE it is
Check it out! Show your friends. Pass it on.

Blueberry Lemon Curd Tart

It's a tart that is tart! The lemon curd has the great tang of a pure lemon and the blueberries are a yummy topping. So I found all these diy labels on various blogs and websites, which are just adorable. Perfect for a party or photo shoot. A little overkill for family dinner, oh well. This is another one of those desserts that only the tiniest sliver was left over after the four of us devoured it. The curd you can also just make on its own, instead of having to buy it at the store.

p.s. I want a haircut! I have been growing it out for a year only to realize that I like it shorter

p.p.s and on other blogs it seems like their photos appear bigger, I can figure out how to make them bigger in the post, I already it checked to 'large' size wen uploading. Because when you click on them, you can see them bigger.
anyone?

Nutella Peanut Butter Cookies

I was at Costco yesterday with the boyfriend and when I went to grab the Nutella, he went "What is that?" and my only response was "ARE YOU SERIOUS?"
He had never had Nutella. We'll I had to change that.
Nutella is one of the most amazing things that I have grown up eating, by the spoonfuls.
I came across this recipe online and the combination of Nutella, peanut butter and oatmeal works great together. The oatmeal just adds a chewy texture, not much of a flavor. Under baking them slightly will leave them really soft even when cooled.

Film Photos

I finally got some film developed! So happy with the results. There is just something about film that is so magical and lovely. I just don't get as excited with digital photos. I'm not one of those people that are completely against digital because it has a rightful place in the world. I would just consider it in a completely different category that film. They both are good but in totally different ways.

The first photo is what I made my mom for breakfast yesterday morning.

Almond Pear Cream Cheese Tart

The crust on this tart tastes like a sugar cookie.
I normally double the crust part because it tastes that good. Everyone will love this when you make it, trust me. I think making it with blueberries or some other fruit would be lovely too. Hmmm... project for this week maybe.
Taking fashion photos today with my gorgeous friend Megan, who is also a photographer, see her photos here. Shooting all film for it, so it will be exciting to see how they come out. Also took film photos of most of the things I have been baking so a much needed Costco trip will have to happen tomorrow.

Swedish Visiting Cake

gosh all my photos look the same. same bird's eye view. need to change it up a bit.

I'm not Swedish and I'm not visiting anywhere. So it's lemon almond cake, but Swedish Visiting Cake sounds so much nicer.
You can just sprinkle the almonds on the top but crazy me had to make perfect circles.
recipe found here.

Sorry for all the font changes in the recipes, finding a good font that isn't cheesy or tacky looking is so hard!

Liege Waffles

I am making my family fat.

I have wanted to make Liege Waffles ever since I saw Samantha Brown try them on her show. By the way, does she not have the best job ever? Travel to different countries, eat their food and stay in nice hotels, and get your own tv show? That lady has got it going on.
I'll post the recipe to this later because I have not found one that is perfect yet. The dough is supposed to form a ball then you stretch it out onto the waffle maker, but mine came out pretty soupy. So google search your hearts out and find a good recipe and share with me!

Sticky Lemon Pudding

My mom came home the other day with a whole bag full of lemons, given by a family friend. Tis' the season for flourishing fruit. I wanted to make something that I had never tried before. So after lusting at the immense food porn at food gawker, I found this recipe, Sticky Lemon Pudding. So heavenly. This comes out like a soft custard at the bottom and like a soft cake at the top. Melts in your mouth. I found this recipe at food gawker via fuss free cooking
